The 14-th of December the Republic of Abkhazia marks the 21st anniversary of the Lata tragedy. During the georgian-Abkhaz war, On December 14, 1992 Georgian fascist troops brought down a Russian helicopter, which made a humanitarian flight from blockade city Tkuarchal to the city Gudauta in order to save lives of newborn babies, children and pregnant women. There were 85 civilians onboard, including 35 children. This say is officially considered as the remembrance day of children killed during the georgia-Abkhaz war 1992-1993.

Both sides of the conflict were informed about the flight of the abovementioned helicopter, but it didn’t stop the heartless enemy to strike a blow to the innocent children and women…

Abkhazian people will never forget this nonhealing wound that will always be in hearts and thoughts while Abkhazia and Abkhazian people exist on the earth… Let God be the judge of the killers! One day that cruelty will suffer the deserved punishment!
