CCI of RA organized a presentation of Abkhazia in the United States of America

22.07.2017

July 19, 2017 in one of the largest cities of the US was held the first cultural evening dedicated to Abkhazia, which was organized by the representation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia. Journalists and reporters of a number of information publications, publishing materials on the topics of tourism, culture and winemaking took part in it.

The program of the evening was very full and was opened by our compatriot Larisa Avidzba (who lives in the US), with a song in the Abkhaz language.

The Representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia, Lana Basaria, greeted the guests on behalf of the Chamber and told about the activities of this organization. It is worth emphasizing that a year ago the leadership of the CCI of RA sent Basaria to the United States with the goal of establishing contacts with various structures and people interested in developing relations with Abkhazia.

Also there were presented slides and photos, which were accompanied by Abkhazian music.

The evening also featured a film about Abkhazia by CCI of RA created in English. The organizers of the evening managed to cover several spheres, including history, culture, traditions and tourism. At the same time, the emphasis was placed on the tourist potential of our republic.

After the presentation, the guests asked a lot of questions. As expected, most of them had never heard about Abkhazia before, and as a result, interest in our republic was very high.

It should be noted that none of the participants in the meeting was interested in the political situation in the country. All issues were related to culture and tourism: journalists asked how you can get to Abkhazia and what are the most unusual places worth visiting.

Many guests expressed a desire to come to Abkhazia.

Since for the evening journalists were invited, writing for publications about various cuisines and wine, the guests were offered something from national food. Everyone was pleased to try ajinjuhua, smoked cheese, achash and also the wine that Lana Basaria brought with her from Abkhazia.

During the whole evening, the video clips of the "Highland of Abkhazia" project, created by Tengiz Tarba, continued to be very popular with the guests. Printed products - booklets about tourism and agriculture, magazines "Abkhazia: tourism", and also disks with a film about Abkhazia also enjoyed popularity.

The evening ended with another song performed by Larissa Avidzba and the dance of professional dancers from the ensemble "Narty", representatives of the Circassian diaspora in the USA. The guests were delighted with the incendiary Abkhazian dance and applauded their performers for a long time.

At the end of the evening, journalists and guests thanked the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Abkhazia for organizing a cultural meeting.

In turn, Lana Basaria stressed that the next step would be the preparation of the visit of journalists invited to the evening to Abkhazia, which is planned for early September this year.

She also noted that our compatriots Larisa Avidzba and Ruslan Bartsits, who live in the US, helped her to organize the event, as well as citizens of this state who are friendly towards Abkhazia.
