ABKHAZIA PRESENTS ITS ECONOMY AT AN IRANIAN BUSINESS PLATFORM FOR THE FIRST TIME

On October 20-21, 2025, Tehran hosted the 22nd meeting of the International Council for Business Cooperation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Caspian Region known as the "Business Caspian" forum. This forum was historic for Abkhazia. For the first time a delegation from Abkhazia took part in such an event on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran opening a new chapter in bilateral relations.
The delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia consisting of Board Member Adgur Lushba and Head of the External Relations and Investment Department Naala Basaria held intensive negotiations with the leadership of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines & Agriculture and the joint Iranian-Russian Chamber of Commerce. During the talks specific ways to develop trade and economic cooperation were discussed.The representatives of Abkhazia provided a detailed overview of the current state and prospects of trade with Iran. Particular emphasis was placed on the republic's advantageous geographical position which opened up wide opportunities for the development of trade relations between the two countries.
Within the framework of the forum the Abkhazian delegation held a series of productive meetings with Iranian entrepreneurs from various economic sectors, as well as with representatives of the Russian-Iranian Business Council. Concurrently, meetings were organized with Russian colleagues, including representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the Astrakhan CCI, Adygea, as well as the Russian Trade Mission in Iran and the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
A significant event was the speech by Adgur Lushba, a member of the CCI Board, at a key session on investment and banking. In his report he not only presented Abkhazia's investment potential but also provided a deep historical overview emphasizing the republic's centuries-old traditions of statehood. Particular emphasis was placed on the country's advantageous economic and geographical location and the favorable business conditions created for foreign investors.
The forum concluded with the adoption of the final declaration of the 22nd meeting of the International Council for Business Cooperation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Caspian Region. It is important to note that Abkhazia received an official invitation to this final event which was attended by members of the Iranian Cabinet of Ministers, including deputy ministers of economy, industry, customs, and trade.
The first visit of the Abkhazian delegation to Iran laid a solid foundation for the development of long-term and mutually beneficial economic partnership.
