21.04.2017

On April 21, in the conference hall of the International Cultural and Business Center "House of Moscow", on the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia, a round table was held on the theme: "Prospects for the development of small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises and personal subsidiary plots". Heads of a number of ministries and departments, heads of district agricultural administrations, employees of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Abkhaz State University and the Sukhum Open Institute, agricultural entrepreneurs and owners of private subsidiary farms from all regions of the republic were invited to the meeting.

- We invited you to talk about the problems and to hear from you suggestions for the further development of agriculture,” said CCI President Gennady Gaguliya, in anticipation of the conversation.

The vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tamila Mertskhulava, then stressed that the CCI, to the best of its ability, promotes the development of entrepreneurship and does everything in its power to protect the interests of entrepreneurs.

They also talked about the need to pass a law on personal part-time farms and the development of a state program to protect agricultural entrepreneurs, to introduce preferential taxation and to solve the problems of selling agricultural products grown by peasants, their pensions and establishment of procurement points, the construction of mini-enterprises for processing agricultural products and much more.

In their, sometimes emotional speeches, agricultural managers and owners of private farms spoke about problems at the border, spoke against the introduction of customs duties, complained about the lack of purchasing points. There was talk about the lack of control over the quality of fertilizers and pesticides imported to the republic, which ultimately leads to depletion and erosion of the soil. In this regard, proposals were made to open special soil science laboratories in each district. It was also said that it is necessary to implement seedlings with the help of the Agricultural Research Institute.

The participants of the roundtable came to the conclusion that it was not necessary to clutter the villagers with problems, on the contrary, it was necessary to facilitate their lives, to free themselves from duties, to create conditions for life and work, and the state's concern for the peasants would pay off a hundredfold.
